Nghiên cứu đặc điểm địa chất khoáng sản thân quặng F16 mỏ đất hiếm Đông Pao, huyện Tam Đường, tỉnh Lai Châu và định hướng thiết kế mạng lưới thăm dò bổ sung
Đất hiếm là loại khoáng sản được nhiều nước trên thế giới xếp vào loại khoáng sản chiến lược, có giá trị cao và đóng vai trò rất quan trọng trong các ngành công nghệ cao. Ngoài việc sử dụng để chế tạo các nam châm vĩnh cửu cho các máy phát điện, trong các máy tuyển từ trong công nghệ tuyển khoáng; dùng chế tạo các đèn cathode trong các máy vô tuyến truyền hình; đất hiếm còn được sử dụng làm xúc tác trong công nghệ lọc hóa dầu và xử lý môi trường, làm vật liệu siêu dẫn,… Là một trong những nước có trữ lượng đất hiếm lớn trên Thế giới, Việt Nam đã và đang đẩy mạnh công tác tìm kiếm, thăm dò, khai thác và sử dụng đất hiếm hiệu quả. Theo các kết quả nghiên cứu, vùng Tây Bắc Việt Nam có tiềm năng lớn về đất hiếm, trong đó có mỏ đất hiếm Đông Pao.
Bắt đầu từ năm 1958 đến nay, công tác thăm dò quặng đất hiếm luôn được Đảng và Chính phủ quan tâm nhằm đáp ứng nhu cầu tiêu thụ ngày một tăng, song thực tế cho thấy công tác thăm dò vẫn chưa có nhiều công trình nghiên cứu sâu về đặc điểm quặng hóa dẫn đến cơ sở xác lập nhóm mỏ, thành lập các mạng lưới thăm dò còn chưa thuyết phục.
